🔺Beihai Accommodation——Beihai Haiyiran Resort Hotel
①If you’re traveling to Beihai with kids, this hotel is a must-stay! The parent-child rooms are fantastic and super cost-effective.
②The hotel is located in the Silver Beach Villa District, just a 10-minute walk from the beach. There are shared electric scooters at the entrance, making it easy to get around.
③The hotel’s swimming pool is very clean, and beach toys are available for free borrowing.
④The free buffet breakfast is delicious. The hotel offers free pick-up and drop-off services to/from the high-speed rail station and pier; for private transfers, a 5-seater car costs 60 yuan and a 7-seater 80 yuan, which is quite reasonable. The hotel can also book discounted packages for mangrove fishing, 2-hour Beihai island tours, and Ocean Window tickets, with free car transfers included.
🔺Day 1: Qiaogang Style Street → Silver Beach → Beihai Old Street
Qiaogang Style Street: A neighborhood of Vietnamese expats, offering many Vietnamese-style delicacies. Recommended spots: 24 Building Sugar Shop and Youjian Ice House.
Beihai Silver Beach: Stunning with clear water and white sand—perfect for watching the sunset with loved ones. Electric sightseeing cars are available in Yintan Park for coastal tours, costing 10 yuan per person.
Beihai Old Street: A nearly 200-year-old street lined with Chinese-Western arcade buildings. Don’t miss Aunt Li’s Shrimp Cake Shop—5 yuan gets you a shrimp cake with over a dozen shrimps, salty, fragrant, and crispy. Also, #Wangjie Seafood opposite the old street is a must for seafood; many locals frequent it. The food is delicious and affordable, with a transparent kitchen ensuring no overcharging. Their signature spicy crab is a standout, along with mango snails, mantis shrimp, and grouper—all unforgettable.
🔺Day 2: Weizhou Island
①Tickets: Book round-trip tickets in advance and check the weather—bad weather or strong winds may halt island access for days. One-way ferry tickets cost 150 yuan, and island entry tickets are 98 yuan, available on the Laiyouba platform.
②Island transportation: Rent electric scooters—we paid 300 yuan for two scooters for three days.
③Island accommodation: Stay near Wucai Beach or Dishui Danping.
🔺Day 3: Wucai Beach (Sunrise) → Crocodile Mountain Park → Dishui Danping → Catholic Church
Wucai Beach: The best spot on Weizhou Island to watch the sunrise, with the optimal time between 5:00-6:00.
Crocodile Mountain Volcano Park: Ideal for admiring sea views and volcanic rock formations.
Dishui Danping: Famous for its stunning sunsets, with entertainment facilities like motorboat rides.
Weizhou Shengtang Catholic Church: A beautiful example of French Renaissance Gothic architecture, open for free visits.
🔺Day 4: Return to Beihai → Guantouling → Mangroves
Guantouling: A niche beach, said to face Hainan Island across the water. Its main peak is 120 meters high, offering great views of sunrises and sunsets.
Beihai Jinhaiwan Mangrove Ecological Tourism Area: Experience the poetic scenery described as “the setting sun and solitary wild geese fly together, with autumn waters merging into the sky.”
🔺Weizhou Island Must-Check-In
When visiting Weizhou Island, don’t miss “See You Tomorrow”! Their mango desserts (from Mango Brother and Miss Mango) are amazing, and the homemade ice cream is delicious too.
We first visited the Nanwan branch of “See You Tomorrow”—the store has a retro vibe, perfect for photos, and offers direct sea views. There are two more branches near the church: one sells handmade Italian ice cream (the vanilla flavor is a must-try), and the other specializes in mango treats. Go check them out!
