️⃣ The Chengdu Panda Base has two gates nearly 10 kilometers apart! With 62 pavilions and over 200 registered pandas, a focused plan is a must—you’ll struggle without a strategy.
️⃣ Tickets: Book via the official GZ account “Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base.” Prices: ¥55 for adults, ¥27 for students, free for children under 6 (requires reservation), and free for seniors over 60 (no reservation needed). Sightseeing bus: ¥30 (worth it if you want to see multiple pandas efficiently); free for kids under 1.3m.
️⃣ 🚌 Transportation: Take the direct bus from the city—departs 7:30 AM from Chunxi Road (near the IFS “climbing panda” landmark, Figure 2). ¥10/person, direct to the West Gate. Buy tickets on the “Chengdu Bus” app and scan the code for the driver to check.
️⃣ Gate tips: If driving, enter via the West Gate—fewer crowds, and you can scan your ID to enter directly. If taking the subway, shuttle buses go straight to the South Gate.
️⃣ After entering, the sightseeing bus can get crowded. Start with nearby pandas: Walk a few minutes to Mingyue Pavilion, Jiangyue Pavilion, and Lanyue Pavilion—home to over 20 pandas. Grab breakfast nearby to save time!
️⃣ Take the sightseeing bus to the Nursery Area (Star Nursery, Moon Nursery, Sun Nursery) to see adorable panda cubs—they’re as cute as the ones in Figure 1!
️⃣ Next stop via bus: the Villa Area, where “celebrity pandas” live. Villa No. 2 is home to the inspiration for Kung Fu Panda’s Dragon Warrior, and Villa No. 6 houses the popular Hua Hua. Warning: Lines here can last hours for just 3 minutes of viewing—we missed out this time! 🤣
️⃣ Near Villa No. 1, the Panda Reception Room has many pandas active outdoors. Afterward, catch the 70-minute “Panda” music festival at the Panda Theater—you can even take group photos after the show!
🔥 Pro tip: There are multiple free stamps inside the park and near the exit—don’t forget to collect them!
