Dalian City is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Liaoning Province. It is an important port city in Northeast China and a major industrial base. Dalian is known for its beautiful coastal scenery, clean environment, and modern urban development.
Wuhan, abbreviated as "Han", also known as Jiangcheng, is one of the megacities[7][8] and national central cities[9] of the People's Republic of China. It is the capital of Hubei Province and a sub-provincial city[10]. It is the largest city in central China and the middle reaches of the Yangtze River[11]. It is also the political, economic, financial, commercial, logistics, scientific, cultural, educational center and transportation and communication hub of the central region[12]. It is a national historical and cultural city[13] and is known as the "crossroads of nine provinces"[14]. Wuhan is the economic and geographical center of China, one of the three major "inland waterway shipping centers" in China, and one of the railway hubs, aviation hubs and highway hubs with the largest passenger volume in China. The "golden waterway" Yangtze River and its largest tributary Han River run through the city, dividing Wuhan into three parts, forming a pattern of three areas of Wuchang, Hankou and Hanyang across the river, which are collectively referred to as the "three towns of Wuhan" in history. Chengdu (Sichuan dialect international phonetic alphabet: /tsʰən˨˩tu˧sɿ˨˩˧/), also known as "Rongcheng", "Jinguancheng", "Jincheng", abbreviated as "Rong" and "Jin", is located in the central part of Sichuan Province, China, in the hinterland of the Chengdu Plain in the west of the Sichuan Basin. It is the capital of Sichuan Province, a sub-provincial city, and a national central city. It is the logistics, trade, finance, science and technology, culture, education center and transportation and communication hub in western China. It is also the location of the Joint Operations Command of the Western Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army of China [5] and a national pilot zone for coordinated urban and rural comprehensive supporting reforms. [6] The total permanent population of Chengdu is 21.403 million (2023 data) [7], and the Municipal People's Government is located at No. 2 Jinyue West Road, High-tech Zone. Chengdu is one of the cities in China that was developed earlier and has continued to prosper for a long time. According to the excavation records of the Jinsha Ruins, the history of Chengdu can be traced back to 3,200 years ago. [8] Chengdu was once the capital of nine regimes: Ancient Shu, Chengjia, Shu Han, Cheng Han, Qiao Shu, Former Shu, Later Shu, Li Shu, and Daxi. It is rich in the culture of the Three Kingdoms. Since the Qin and Han Dynasties, Chengdu has been famous for its prosperous agriculture, handicrafts and culture. It is located in the southwest of Jiangsu Province and the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It is a city in the central area of the Yangtze River Delta [1]. Nanjing City has a northern subtropical humid monsoon climate, with distinct four seasons, abundant rainfall, short spring and autumn, long winter and summer, and a large annual temperature difference. It is known as the "natural geological museum". There are many geomorphic units such as Yangtze River floodplain, water-rich soft soil, hills, and karst [9]. The total area is 6587.04 square kilometers. As of December 2023, Nanjing City has 11 districts [499]. At the end of 2024, Nanjing City has a permanent population of 9.577 million [493]. The Nanjing dialect is Jianghuai Mandarin [462]. Nanjing is an important central city in eastern China approved by the State Council, a national historical and cultural city, an international comprehensive transportation hub, a national advanced manufacturing base, an eastern industrial innovation center, a regional science and technology innovation highland, an eastern modern service industry center, a regional shipping and logistics center, and the headquarters of the Eastern Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army. Nanjing is known as the "ancient capital of six dynasties" and the "metropolis of ten dynasties". The cultural influence of the city reaches the entire East Asia [284]. There were ancient human activities in the Nanjing area 1 to 1.2 million years ago. Nanjing was built in the late Shang Dynasty more than 3,100 years ago [461]. Nanjing was established as the capital in the first year of Huanglong in the Eastern Wu Dynasty (229 AD). On April 23, 1949, Nanjing was liberated. In 1953, it was designated as the capital of Jiangsu Province, and in 1994 it was designated as a sub-provincial city [6]. The four pillar industries of steel, petrochemicals, automobiles, and electronics are the "basic plate" of Nanjing's economy. Xiamen City, abbreviated as "Xia" or "Lu", is a prefecture-level city, a sub-provincial city, a separately planned city, and a Type I large city under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province, China. [164] [198] It is located on the southeastern coast of Fujian Province [186]. It faces the Big and Small Kinmen Islands to the east and Longhai District of Zhangzhou City to the south. It borders Nan'an City of Quanzhou City, Anxi County of Quanzhou City, Changtai District of Zhangzhou City, and Longhai District of Zhangzhou City by land. [207] It has a total area of 1,700.61 square kilometers and the language used is the Minnan dialect. [123] As of the end of 2023, Xiamen City has 6 districts under its jurisdiction; by the end of 2024, the permanent population of Xiamen City is 5.35 million [225]; the Municipal People's Government is located at No. 61 Hubin North Road, Siming District. [204] The territory of Xiamen City consists of the mainland area along Xiamen Bay in the southeast of Fujian Province, as well as the islands of Xiamen Island, Gulangyu Island, and Xiamen Bay. The terrain slopes from northwest to southeast, and is mainly composed of coastal plains, terraces, and hills. Jinan, abbreviated as "Ji", also known as "Spring City", [129] is a prefecture-level city, [4] provincial capital, sub-provincial city, [76] megacity under the jurisdiction of Shandong Province. It is located in the central part of Shandong Province and ranks fourth in Shandong Province in terms of population. [155] Its geographical location is between 36°02′~37°54′N and 116°21′~117°93′E. [76] Jinan is an important central city in the Yellow River Basin approved by the State Council, a national historical and cultural city, a national comprehensive transportation hub city, a northern advanced manufacturing base, a northern trade and logistics center, and a regional highland for scientific and technological innovation. [128] As of April 2024, the city has 10 districts and 2 counties, with a total area of 10,244.45 square kilometers. The Municipal People's Government is located at No. 1, Longding Avenue, Lixia District. [34] As of the end of 2024, the permanent population of Jinan is 9.515 million. [160] The Jinan dialect belongs to Ji-Lu Mandarin.
