October and November are the coziest months to visit Sanya—fewer crowds, lighter traffic, and hotels offer great value for money. Imagine soaking in the blue skies, waves, beaches, and coconut trees—both adults and kids will feel utterly relaxed! I’ve put together a 3-day itinerary for you to reference.
Day 1: Arrive in Sanya and stay in Sanya Bay
We always choose to stay in Sanya Bay when we visit. Just across the road is Coconut Dream Corridor Beach, where you can witness Sanya Bay’s most stunning sunsets. In the evening, head to Yifenghe Life Plaza to savor Hainanese specialties like coconut chicken hot pot. Don’t miss their dessert—the island-style coconut milk parfait is absolutely delicious!
Day 2: Nanshan Tourist Area (5A)
Nanshan Temple is the largest coastal Buddhist cultural tourist area in China. The 108-meter-tall Guanyin of the South Sea— the world’s largest Guanyin statue—stands majestically in the sea, exuding an air of solemnity. From here, you can gaze out over the vast South China Sea, where the sky and sea merge into one breathtaking view.
For dining, head to Haiyan Market and try the Hongsha food stalls. They serve freshly caught seafood, and the pandan cakes are perfect for kids—mild and tasty, sure to please their palates.
Day 3: West Island (Xidao)
Staying in Sanya Bay makes getting to West Island super convenient. I’ve visited twice with my kids, and we love it every time. The island boasts well-developed coastal bathing beaches, Turtle Beach, Niuwangling, and a rustic fishing village brimming with local charm. On sunny days, the “glass sea” (crystal-clear waters) is stunningly beautiful.
Take bus K16 to Xidao Station and arrive early—this place is worth spending the whole day exploring. In the evening, return to Haiyan Market to try Qiongzhou dregs vinegar hot pot. It’s a unique local specialty, and the soup is even drinkable! No need to worry about kids not liking it—they’ll enjoy it too~
