After visiting Jinan, I finally understood why Lao She described it so beautifully—it’s truly a “Little Jiangnan in the North” 🍃.
Choose Jinan Station—West Station and East Station are much farther from the city center.
Jinan’s attractions are highly concentrated, so stay near Quancheng Square or Kuanhouli for easy access to everything.
There’s no subway in downtown Jinan (to protect the springs), and traffic gets extremely congested during holidays‼️ Walking or cycling is recommended—most attractions are close enough to reach on foot or by bike.
Wulongtan → Baotu Spring → Quancheng Square → Heihu Spring → Jiefang Pavilion → Kuanhouli → Furong Street → Qushuiting Street → Daming Lake → Lao She Memorial Hall → Chaoran Building
1️⃣ Wulongtan: The best photo spot is opposite the pavilion—capture stunning water reflections here.
2️⃣ Baotu Spring (🎫 40r): Deserving of its title “No. 1 Spring in the World,” with clear, gushing waters. Arrive before 8 AM to avoid crowds (holidays get packed!).
3️⃣ Quancheng Square: Adorned with colorful tulips 🌷—a vibrant photo backdrop.
4️⃣ Heihu Spring: Small bridges and flowing water evoke the charm of the Jiangnan region, with springs dotted everywhere.
5️⃣ Jiefang Pavilion: A landmark commemorating the victory of the Jinan Campaign.
6️⃣ Kuanhouli: A lively snack street—try local favorites like “Soldier Point General” (a street food) and Maoshen (a traditional snack).
7️⃣ Furong Street: Best visited at night. Don’t miss the roasted chicken feet from Furong Spring—delicious 👍.
8️⃣ Qushuiting Street: Navigate to No. 8 Fengqiao for the viral check-in spot. Grab a “sour dip” (a local snack) to savor the old-town charm.
9️⃣ Daming Lake: Take a boat to the East Gate, or visit the Lao She Memorial Hall nearby.
🔟 Chaoran Building: The lights turn on at 18:50, and the view is absolutely stunning—you’ll be amazed!
Minzu Street Market → Jingsan Road → Ronghui Jinan Old Commercial Port → Hongjia Building → Shandong Art Museum → Shandong Museum
1️⃣ Minzu Street: Home to “Jinan Badaju” (local breakfast classics)—try various specialty morning foods here.
2️⃣ Jingsan Road: Check in at the romantic “love traffic lights” 🚥 and zebra crossings.
3️⃣ Old Commercial Port: Famous for its viral photo spots: the “popular wall,” “sandwich alleys,” and “rose waterfalls.” 📷 Arrive early to avoid long lines!
4️⃣ Hongjia Building: Stunning Gothic architecture that looks even better in person. Note: It closes at 16:00.
5️⃣ Shandong Museum: The museum’s treasures are all in Hall 3—turn right after entering.
6️⃣ Shandong Art Museum: Located opposite the museum. ⚠️ Both museums close at 17:00 and require advance reservations.
(Only Baotu Spring charges an entrance fee of 40r. College students can use the “369 Travel” app for free entry—all other attractions are free 👍!)
Jinan’s blend of spring waters, old-town charm, and modern vibes makes it a city that feels both timeless and vibrant—just as Lao She painted it. 🌊
