🚶 Detailed Itinerary:
1️⃣ First stop: Visit B1 “Ancient China”—a must-see; otherwise, it’s like not visiting the National Museum at all! On the first floor, you can see all the museum’s treasures and the changes of dynasties. The main themes cover ancient times, the Xia, Shang, and Western Zhou dynasties, the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, the Qin and Han dynasties, the Three Kingdoms, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, the Sui, Tang, and Five Dynasties, the Liao, Song, Xia, Jin, and Yuan dynasties, and the Ming and Qing dynasties.
The museum’s treasures include jade dragons, jade cong, eagle-shaped pottery tripods, gold-threaded jade suits, Houmuwu tripods, bronze masks, four-ram square zun, King Fuchai of Wu’s bronze sword, Warring States ice vases, bronze rhino zun, drum-beating and rap figurines, celadon lotus zun, gilded bronze Buddha statues, chime bells, Tang tri-colored glazed pottery, and Empress Xiaoduan’s Nine-Dragon and Nine-Phoenix Crown, etc. There’s a cultural and creative shop right outside. Allow 2 hours.
☕️ Half-hour lunch break: Take the kids to the restaurant to eat and rest. There aren’t many options—cold noodles, sandwiches, and beverage machines. It’s just to fill your stomach; don’t expect great taste. Bring your own snacks like chocolate.
2️⃣ Second stop: Go directly to the 4th floor of the South District and visit 6 exhibitions in one go, including the Coin Exhibition, Bronze Mirror Exhibition, Technology Exhibition (you can skip it if short on time), Clothing Exhibition, Porcelain Exhibition, and Jade Exhibition. Allow 2 hours.
3️⃣ Third stop: Visit “Ancient Food” on the 3rd floor of the North District. As soon as you enter, there’s a table of imported food. Many of the carrots, cucumbers, and watermelons we’re used to eating were imported. Allow 30 minutes.
Tips: The popular “Princess Yushu White Porcelain Exhibition” on the 2nd floor of the North District has closed. The white porcelain skirt, as thin as a cicada’s wing, was amazing!
📷 In 5.5 hours, I took 700 photos, walking through the evolution of history, marveling at the wisdom of our ancestors, and witnessing the prosperity of history! Step by step, it reflects Maslow’s hierarchy of needs—from the need for food and clothing to the pursuit of spirituality.
❤️ Save first, then visit the exhibition. The National Museum is worth it!
