Combining high-speed rail + cable car + easy hiking makes checking in at the top of the Great Wall a breeze — perfect for a relaxed yet rewarding experience!
Route: Qinghe Station (in Beijing) to Badaling Great Wall Station.
Duration: 25 minutes direct.
Ticket price: ¥20–25.
Tips: Plenty of trains run daily; tickets are easy to buy on weekdays, but book in advance on weekends to secure your spot.
Take the cable car to North 7th Floor
After arriving at the Northbound cable car station, hop on the cable car. It takes 3–5 minutes to reach the North 7th Floor, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the winding Great Wall along the way.
Hike from North 7th Floor to “Hao Han Slope”
This section requires a bit of physical effort, with some steep stairs. Take your time and watch your step — it takes about 20–30 minutes.
Reach the summit: North 8th Floor (“Guangri Platform”)
Continue from “Hao Han Slope” to the North 8th Floor, the highest point of the northern section of Badaling. Also known as “Guangri Platform,” this is where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the Great Wall snaking through the mountains — a fantastic photo spot!
Hike back down
Note: Cable cars and slides close around 4:30 PM. If you miss the last ride, hike back down along the Great Wall — it takes about an hour. The afternoon sun (4–5 PM) casts a beautiful glow over the bricks, making the descent just as scenic as the climb!
Return to the station
After hiking down, follow clear signs to Badaling Railway Station. Along the way, you’ll find shops selling snacks, drinks, and Great Wall-themed souvenirs — a great chance to grab a memento.
This itinerary balances convenience and adventure, letting you experience the grandeur of the Great Wall without overexerting yourself. Perfect for a day trip from Beijing! 🏯✨
